The LIRR is reducing the impact of ongoing construction at the Westbury North Parking Structure project for Westbury LIRR passengers with a free shuttle bus. Free parking is available at the Source Mall at Old Country Road and Fortunoff Way – the shuttle conveys passengers directly from the mall to the Westbury LIRR station approximately every 20 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes during off-peak times.
The Westbury North parking lot will be replaced by a new four-level, 683-space parking structure, for a net increase of 481 spaces. The Westbury station itself will also be upgraded as part of the LIRR Expansion Project, with platform replacement to accommodate a new third track, as well as: platform canopies; new platform furnishings and accoutrements, including benches, shelters and signage; CCTV security cameras; an extension of the Westbury Station pedestrian tunnel; ADA-compliant mobility improvements, including elevators, ramps and overpasses; free public Wi-Fi; USB charging stations; digital information displays, and a low-maintenance pocket park near Post Avenue. The interior and exterior of the station building will be renovated, and new bike racks and artwork will also be installed.
