Purpose of the STEM Competition

The LIRR Expansion Project has extended the registration deadline for its STEM Competition to March 6, 2019. Also, due to participant requests, the size of eligible groups has been increased: students may elect to work individually, in small groups or as an entire class.

The LIRR Expansion Project STEM Competition is open to students in grades 6 through 12 attending specific schools along the project corridor. Students wishing to participate should email STEM@mainlineep.com. Registrants will receive an enrollment form.

Competition participants will be asked to respond to a prompt through either a poster or video submission. Entrants will be judged based on grade level. Visit this link for a more detailed description of the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville and the STEM Competition. Students are also encouraged to learn more about the LIRR Expansion Project; for more information about the project, please visit //www.amodernli.com/project/thirdtrack/ and //www.lirrexpansion.com/.

All submissions are due April 15, 2019. While there are no prizes, winners will be announced in an awards ceremony with a prestigious judging panel!
