LIRR Expansion Project Team Hosts Table at Westbury Street Fair to Keep Residents Up to Date with Westbury North Parking Structure and Planned Improvements at Westbury Station

On September 7th, the LIRR Expansion Project team joined the Westbury Business Improvement District at the 12th Annual Street Fair on Post Avenue. Margo Cargill, Community Ambassador to Westbury, talked with residents and business owners about ongoing construction activities in the Village, including representatives from the Westbury Business Improvement District and local historian Ray Muntz. Ms. Cargill informed interested residents about ongoing work at the Westbury North Parking Structure and enhancements to the Westbury LIRR Station, where construction is expected to begin next spring.

The construction of a third track from Floral Park to Hicksville will reduce train congestion and delays and enable true bi-directional service during peak hours with a more reliable rail network. This transformative work includes several related projects, including the construction of parking garages, retaining walls, improvements to rail bridges and the removal of eight street-level grade crossings. Construction is being managed to minimize the impact on daily routines, with extensive mitigation and public outreach efforts in local communities.
