As part of its ongoing, robust coordination with businesses throughout the Expansion Project corridor, the LIRR Expansion Project team met with the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce on June 5th to discuss ongoing efforts to keep communities informed of the project schedule. Extensive coordination between the project team and business owners will continue throughout the closure of Covert Avenue and the duration of the elimination of the Covert Avenue Grade Crossing. Coordination with business owners is an integral component of Design-Build Contractor 3rd Track Constructors’ “Open for Business” program.
The elimination of the Covert Avenue grade crossing is part of the LIRR Expansion Project to strengthen the reliability of LIRR infrastructure and to support the growth and development of Long Island and the wider region.
