As part of the process of efficiently designing and constructing a replacement vehicular bridge over the LIRR Port Washington Branch track, a Best Value Analysis Presentation of the Webster Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project was made to the LIRR in December 2018. The final report is currently under review. The project is currently in the preliminary (30 percent) design phase, which began in November 2017 and is anticipated to be completed in March 2019. The Bridge replacement is being planned as a design-build project.
The photo below shows the upper portion of the bridge. It is an antiquated open-deck bridge which will be replaced with a modern deck design.
