Carle Place Senior Citizens Rate Contractor Performance on LIRR Expansion Project

MTA representatives met with members of Carle Place Senior Citizens, Inc. at Fuschillo Park on the progress of the LIRR Expansion project and the unique community-driven contractor assessment program. Rich Mulieri, the Senior Director of Public Affairs for MTA Capital Construction, and Dan Marcy, from the LIRR Expansion Project team, answered questions about construction activities in Carle Place and distributed Community Scorecards for members to complete. Carle Place seniors were asked to give their input on the performance of Design-Build Contractor 3rd Track Constructors (3TC) performance during the fourth quarter of 2018. This feedback will help determine whether 3TC earns the incentive payment for this quarter and will also be instrumental in improving construction techniques, project communications and outreach efforts. Approximately 15 percent of the residents of Carle Place are senior citizens.

The LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, one of the region’s most significant transportation infrastructure projects, will positively impact the Hamlet of Carle Place. Over the course of the project, residents and business owners in Carle Place will see crews updating and enhancing the Carle Place Station, replacing and modifying bridges, adding sound attenuation walls, relocating utilities, and improving drainage in the area, among many other upgrades.

The LIRR Expansion Project Team regularly makes itself available to businesses, residents and elected officials in all the LIRR Expansion Project communities. Each community has its own point-of-contact who can provide businesses and residents with the latest information on the project, and of equal importance, can quickly address questions and concerns.
