USB Charging Stations 02-07-19

If you’re waiting for a train – or you’ve just stepped off one – and your smartphone or tablet or laptop is out of power, the LIRR has a solution for you: you can now find freestanding USB charging stations and/or technology counters at 19 LIRR stations. These stations are:

Baldwin Station

Bayside Station

Bellmore Station

Brentwood Station

Deer Park Station

East Hampton Station

Farmingdale Station

Flushing Main Street

Great Neck Station

Hicksville Station

Merrick Station

Northport Station

Port Jefferson Station

Stewart Manor

Stony Brook Station

Syosset Station

Valley Stream Station

Wantagh Station

Wyandanch Station

You can use the technology counters and the charging stations without an AC plug – all you need is a USB cable. Technology counters can be found inside the station and platform waiting rooms, while USB charging stations can be found throughout many of the stations – look for the short black “Power Pedestals” in waiting areas and on some platforms. Each ADA-compliant charging station provides four USB ports.

LIRR customers love having so many places to charge their devices. Ritchie in Ronkonkoma told us, “it’s great if you need the juice – they didn’t have these before. There’s enough plugs for you to multi-charge.” A Bellmore customer said, “the charge is great, it lasts a long time.”

The LIRR wants people to use these technology counters and charging stations as often as they need them, so they can make their time at stations and on trains more productive and more satisfying. Please let us know what you think at
