In conjunction with the LIRR Modernization Program, upgrading the Port Jefferson station is important to accommodate a future increase in ridership. Enhancements to Port Jefferson station are a part of a broader LIRR initiative to strengthen the reliability and resiliency of LIRR infrastructure as well as support the growth and development of Long Island.
