The Wreck Lead Bridge, which connects LIRR service from Island Park to the City of Long Beach on the Long Beach Branch, was originally installed in June of 1988 and is a single-track bascule bridge crossing the Wreck Lead Channel. The LIRR awarded a design contract in November 2017 as part of an overall project to rehabilitate the moveable mechanical bridge components. Once completed in 2020, the rehabilitation work will improve the operational reliability of the bridge.
